Nick Hamil

Nick Hamil, Drummer for the New Alternative Rock Band, Soylent RedNick Hamil was born in 1988 in Alpharetta, Georgia. He spent most of his childhood and teenage years in Woodstock, Georgia, which is a suburb just north of Atlanta. Nick claims to have had a great childhood because he has an awesome family and always surrounded himself with a lot of friends.

At the age of 13, Nick first learned to play guitar in an 8th grade guitar class at Dean Rusk Middle School. Soon afterward, he bought his first acoustic guitar. In no time, he began to play and sing a wide variety of songs.  After learning to play the guitar, Nick decided to give the drums a try.

“I literally just got behind the drum set and started playing a simple beat, and I knew that I was destined to be a drummer. I just knew how to play them even though I never had.”

Nick also took chorus classes for three years in high school, where he learned a lot about music and singing.  Some of Nick’s influences include classic rock legends such as The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, as well as pop sensation Michael Jackson and the contemporary rock band Tool. He is also influenced by many of his musically talented friends and family members.

“I love music, and it is one of the most important things in my life. I plan on playing music for the rest of my life. I feel like Soylent Red is my destiny because Brian, Rhianna, and I have such good chemistry, and we can make beautiful and dynamic songs that everyone can appreciate.”

"Atlanta trio Soylent Red dig deep into the dirt of their home state and come up with a new spin on southern music...The familiar sounds of southern gothic blues and sun-fueled soul are heard throughout the album’s seven tracks, which blend several beloved styles into one unique concoction."
